LFP Celebrates
Taste of Lawrence
LFP certified food met ethnic cuisine when Scarborough Taste served up the World's Largest Multicultural Salad Bar on Saturday July 7, 2026 featuring foods from seven different cuisines.

Local Food Plus was proud to ensure that local sustainable food was part of this year's Taste of Lawrence. The 200-foot salad bar was the focal point of the festival, saluting the diversity of Ontario produce. A team of top chefs and more than 250 volunteers worked all night to assemble the salad bar.

The event was the brainchild of food show host and producer Marty Galin of Marty's Wacky Kitchen. It was chaired by Toronto City Councillor Michael Thompson and sponsored by the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation.

"The multicultural food that Scarborough needs can be grown in the Greenbelt," said Donald Wiedman of the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation.

"Events such as this are a great opportunity to highlight the diversity of crops that can be grown sustainably in Ontario, and especially in the Greenbelt," added LFP Vice President Mike Schreiner.

LFP worked with festival organizers to ensure a bountiful array of fresh food from Ontario farms using environmentally and socially sustainable practices. LFP-certified Pfenning Organic Vegetables provided almost 1,500 pounds of romaine lettuce! Other participating LFP-certified farms included Sleger Greenhouses, Greenfields Organic Farm and Zephyr Organics.
